A blast to the past

I came across the DSP that has been retired for some time now, but still like it. So, I decided to play with it today. It's not a WOW! card, but I like it.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I have eaten so much food in the last two days, I could stop eating for a week and be fine. UGH!!!!
Thanks for peeking in today.

Happy New Baby

A friend at work asked me to make her some baby shower invitations for a friend of hers who is having twins. They are having the shower down by the beach, so we decided on boats for the card. This is what I came up with. I wanted to go Nautical so I made the background look like beadboard. Two boats, for two baby boys.
What do you think? Does it need something more?

Happy Graduation to my nephew

My nephew Ethan is graduating this year....oh my goodness, where has the time gone?
I wasn't sure what his school colors were so I had to wait to get the announcement. Well, it came on Saturday, so I made him a graduation card. I wanted it to look masculine....not too easy for me....but I think it turned out just fine.I added the "W" for his school Whitney High.
When you open it up, I had a little pocket to put money in.
I hope he likes it. I still can't believe he's old enough to be done with high school. That's just crazy!!!
Have a great day.

Happy Mother's Day.....

So, what's up with this title right???? Well, this is the Mother's day gift I made for my mom. I made her four cards and then put them in a box. No big deal right? Well, I was so excited about it because I figured out the dimensions all by myself for the box. Okay, for me that's big. I usually just copy someone elses dimensions. I thought to myself, I can do this, and dog gone it....I did. Woo hoo. This is the front top side of the box. This is the box with the lid off to show the cards inside.
I used the Watercolor Trio stamp set for these cards. I also used the new embossing folder in the summer mini catalog. This is a really neat embossing folder and I think that when you feel and touch the paper after being run through the folder, you will want this new toy. The paper feels so soft.

I love this stamp set because it is so versatile. I love the different looks of all the cards.
And the three different sayings that come in the stamp set are just perfect.
I think my mom liked it. It really was a nice little package of a gift set of cards.
And can I just say that making a box to fit your own needs is really not that difficult to do. If I can do it, anyone can!!!!

Way to go

Not too long ago I was introduced to 3x6" cards. I am embarrassed to admit it, but I didn't know that we had envelopes for cards that size. Well I do now!!
I came across a card very similar to these ones. You can see the original card here.
I love the fact that you can make 4 cards with one piece of 12x12 paper.
I used Dusty Durango, Bermuda Bay strip, Chocolate Chip strip, and More Mustard for the star. These cards made up really quickly. I made these cards in less than an hour.
I also finally used my Itty Bitty Bits stamp set and the punches and buttons that go with it from the Summer Mini Catalog.

Same sketch different card

Do you recognize the sketch? This is the same sketch as a previous post. Instead of using fun, tropical DSP I used some more serious, elegant DSP, and I get a totally different look. This DSP is the Bella Blue paper. I kinda like it.
This card can be made really quickly actually.

An attempt at a masculine card

Again, I have to say that I copy well. I don't do all that great coming up with ideas for masculine cards. I don't have a lot of masculine type stamps. I am realizing that I need to change that. I was trying to think about a way to make a card without masculine stamps. I don't think I'm the only one without masculine stamps, so I wanted to find a card we could all make without a lot of investment in more stamps that won't be used enough.....just my thoughts. I once again copied this from someone else. This was copied from Jackie Topa. You can see her blog here.

Convention Swaps

Okay, so I'm really excited to be going to convention this July. I mean that is one of the reasons I became a demonstrator in the first place, to go to convention.
One of the things people do at convention is to swap cards. I have been playing around with some different ideas for swaps. I want to make a couple different swaps. This is one of the cards I was thinking of making.....I don't know. I think there are so many different things you could do with this sketch.
If you have any thoughts, comments or suggestions I would appreciate any input.
Thanks so much.

A flower explosion

I don't know why but I really couldn't wait to get this Hostess set from the Summer Mini Catalog. I have had it for a while and it has taken me this long to put ink on it.
I actually used 3 new "toys" on this card. Thanks for peeking in.

Legoland

I can honestly say that I think this card is stinking adorable. I can say that because I didn't come up with the idea on my own....but I copy real well. The original card was made by Angela McKay, she has a link on my sidebar. Too cute huh? I thought this would be another perfect card for a little boy or a child. Those can be some of the hardest cards for me to come up with. So, I'm grateful that other people come up with them so I can copy.....hahahahaha
I just used the 3/4" punch for the lego circle.
Easy peasy.

Just monkeying around ....

Okay, so I saw this idea a looooooooong time ago. I wish I could remember who did it so I could give them credit, but it was way too long ago. Heck, I can't remember what I had for dinner last night....ha ha ha ha Anyway, this is such a cute idea I had to share it. I took the Fox & Friends stamp set, the Sweet Treat Cups, some BB's, and my 1/8" hole punch and made this cute little toy/card. Isn't it cute?
I asked Holly last night at a baby shower we were both at, what she would like to make at our June Stamp club, and she said something boyish. I immediately thought of this idea I had seen so long ago, and thought it would be perfect for a little boy. It makes a fun and cute birthday card too. Heck, even my 22 and 25 year old children had fun playing with it.
It was a hit at my house, try to make one and see if it's a hit at your house.

Movers and Shapers fun

At our last club meeting Tandy ordered the Movers and Shapers and asked me to keep it and play with it to give her some ideas on how to use it. So I have! I made this Fourth of July card with the star. This really is a fun die to have. Guess I will be ordering one myself here soon....Thanks a lot Tandy...ha ha ha. I thought the picture below was cool how it turned out...kinda blurry and fun.

Then I used the Curly Label on this card. I ran some Mellow Moss through my embossing folder. This was a fun card to make.
I hope you are having a great day today.

Catching Up on Birthday Cards

I have run a little low on my supply of Birthday cards lately and decided I needed to fix that problem. So, I had to play....darn!!! This stamp set just makes me want to go hang out in Hawaii. I love this stamp set and the paper both. This card was super simple to make. I had already cut out the flowers earlier and a bunch of them in different colors were on my desk, so I threw some together and made this card.
It's nice to have a little supply available. Now I need to go make a card for a baby shower tonight.

King of the Grill

I haven't been blogging much lately but I have been playing with paper.
I got the new King of the Grill stamp set in the new Summer Mini Catalog and played with it. This is a great....and I think pretty darn cute....masculine stamp set.
I stamped it on some watercolor paper and colored it in with my aqua painter.
I used another new toy, my color spritzer.....fun fun fun....and added some splatters to the background of the watercolor paper. I then added it to some Ruby Red, some Old Olive, and then some More Mustard. I used the Log Cabin Smooch Spray on the More Mustard paper. I thought it would be a great Father's Day card. So, I put some lovin inside.
I hope the ladies in my club like this , because we are going to be playing with this stamp set at our next meeting.
I have some more cards to share so stay tuned.
Have a wonderful day.

Sweet Pea invitations

A good friend at work is expecting her first child in August. She knows I like to play with paper and asked me if I would barter with her. She would make me a baby blanket for my new granddaughter, if I would make her baby shower invitations for her. How could I pass up an offer like that? Well, I didn't. She's having a little girl, but the daddy doesn't want everything all pink. So she decided to go with Turquiose, Red and Daisies. I thought it was cute, and this is what I came up with.
She needed 40 invitaions. So, this is what I've been busy with the last few days.
They were very easy to make, but tedious. There was a lot of running paper through the Big Shot for different things. The texture impression plate for the top part, the turquoise oval underneath the sweet pea punch out, three sets of daisies and centers for each invite. That really does add up to lots of work, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
We just put the information on the back and didn't mess with the inside of a card. I gave her 20 of them yesterday so she could get started on addressing the envelopes, and she LOVED them!! I have never see this woman be so silly before, it was kinda fun to watch actually.
Now that those are done, I need to seriously get busy on making my mom a stack of cards as a gift for Mother's Day. I got a box of "new toys" yesterday, and I just can't wait to get home from work today to play with them. Just about everything in that box was from the new Summer Mini Catalog and it was all for MEEEEE!!!! Yippee!
Have a wonderful day today.

Happiness....

Okay, so we have been doing the California State Test this week at school. So, for the first two hours of my day at work, it consists of sitting and just making sure the kids don't cheat and answer any questions they might have......B-O-R-I-N-G!!!!! I decided that instead of just sitting there doing nothing. I would stamp some flowers and cut them out while sitting there.
Well, that is what I was doing this morning when a student approached me and asked what I was doing....she was done with the test. I told her cutting out leaves and flowers. She wanted to know what I did with them when I was done cutting them out. I told her I made cards with them. Much to my utter astonishment, she asked me to make her a card.
This is the card I made her. Now, I really don't think this is going to make a 15 year old girl as excited about it as I would get, but we'll see. I did NOT know what to put for the sentiment. I was not going to put Thank You .... this girl is not a bad student, but I don't want to thank her. So, I put Happiness, so she will be happy.
I even gave the inside a little love.
It will be interesting to see what she says about it tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
Have a great day.

Happy Birthday card

I have realized that if I just walk by the living room and ignore that couch just calling my name, I can actually get things done around here. = )
I found out today that I have a good friend who's having a birthday this week. She is a fellow stamper and so I know she will appreciate the handmade card I made her. I don't know why it is that I always seem to make "Thank You" cards. I mean thank you cards are great and all, but it's birthday cards I can really use....so that's what I made today.
This is the card she will be getting in the mail in a few days. I'm not too sure about the inside, but it's done and it will have to do.
I am really excited about creating right now, because I have decided to go to Convention in Salt Lake in July. It will be during my birthday and I told my husband I couldn't think of a better birthday gift.....so I now I get to start creating swaps.....I'm really excited. I have never been before and I always here how much fun it is, so I'm going to go experience that fun for myself this year.
Thanks for peeking in today.
For the card I used the Island Oasis DSP from the Summer mini catalog and the Flower Layers diecut. The leaves for the flower are the bird wing from the Bird Punch....clever huh? I didn't think of that, I saw someone else do it and copied.....
Have a wonderful day.

Island Oasis Swaps....

Being a Stampin Up demonstrator includes the perks of having meetings where you share ideas and swap cards. Today is one of those days. My upline Eva Kailiponi is having a meeting and I needed to make 6 swaps. I wanted to use something from the new Summer mini catalog. I am in love with the Island Oasis DSP and stamp set, so this is what I came up.
I think this would be the cutest invitation for a Luau. Now I just need an excuse to have one so I can make these fun invitations....anyone wanna come???? hahaha I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday.
Thanks for peeking in.
